A kitchen fire caused an estimated $40,000 damage Monday night to a South Peoria home. Firefighters were called just before 10 p.m. to 1926 W. Wiswall St. and found heavy smoke in the one-story house. The fire was contained to the kitchen area.

HUNTINGTON — Wearing white chefs hats bearing their names, the participants in the Kid’s Cooking and Fitness Camp and Huntington’s Kitchen were hard at work on Friday afternoon. They had set the tables and made special centerpieces. And they helped whip up a meal of fajitas, fiesta corn and fresh fruit, and were busy making sure that everyone was served.
